Our Story

The Susan Schibel Agency opened its doors in 2000, but our journey in the insurance industry began long before that. My sister, Sheryl Fowler, and I grew up surrounded by insurance, guided by our grandfather, Frank Olberding, our father, Mike Olberding, and our aunt, Camille Miller—all of whom were dedicated State Farm Agents.

While attending Newberg High School, we had the unique opportunity to work for our dad, which laid the foundation for our exceptional customer service skills. I later worked full-time for him while pursuing my bachelor’s degree in business at Portland State University. After earning my degree, I spent 12 years in our Claims Department, gaining invaluable experience that has contributed to our agency's success since its inception.

With over 68 years of combined insurance experience, we are proud to work alongside our newest team members, Jordan Sandoval and Alexis Goughnour, as well as my husband, Tom, our son, Gabe and daughter, Sarah Schibel. Our deep roots in the Newberg area mean we are committed to being active members of our community. We proudly support local organizations such as Kiwanis and the Chamber of Commerce and sponsor events at local schools and sports fields.
